Evidence Packets 101 — Screenshots, Photos, and Paper Trails
This page is part of the Men Too Movement’s education series. It’s general information, not legal advice. Rules vary by court and state.
Big Picture
- Clarity beats volume. A few strong, dated exhibits are better than a data dump.
- Every item should relate directly to an issue the judge must decide.
- Dates matter: make them visible on screenshots, photos, and receipts.
Quick Wins
- Use an Exhibit Index and page numbers across your packet.
- File names:
YYYY-MM-DD_description_exhibit-letter. - Screenshots: capture the date/time bar; avoid cropping it out.
- Bring a bench copy even if you e‑filed.
Core Steps
- Collect → label → paginate → index.
- Attach only what you reference in your motion or statement.
- Serve the other side by allowed methods; keep proof of service.
- Tab A–F on right; highlight key lines lightly.
